Credit Building through Micro-Lending

What is the Independence Project?

The Independence Project, a credit building program of The National Network To End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), was established in partnership with Verizon and with seed funding from Thirty-One Gifts.

Through the Independence Project, advocates and local domestic violence programs across the nation can support survivors of domestic violence in improving their credit scores through micro-lending.

Loan Qualifications:

  1. Be a survivor of domestic violence

  2. Meet with a domestic violence advocate 3 times

Our Case Manager works with clients to assist them with this loan process.

CUT IT OUT® The Beauty Community Against Domestic Abuse is a program dedicated to mobilizing salon / spa professionals, students and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States. CUT IT OUT® builds awareness of domestic abuse through awareness materials to be displayed in salons, the “Give the Power Back” initiative to involve salons in helping local domestic violence agencies, and training salon / spa professionals and students to recognize warning signs and safely refer clients to resources.

Give Back a Smile

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation's (AACDCF) Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program heals some of the most devastating effects of domestic and sexual violence, by restoring the smiles of adult women and men who have suffered dental injuries from a former intimate partner or spouse, family member or due to sexual assault.

Serene Harbor has loyal partners in the community that provide their services to help maintain our property and assets.                          The services provided by Slug-A-Bug and Hobbs Electric are a great support to our survivors and staff.
Our comfort dog, Lilly, receives grooming from Paige Chapman of K9 Kampus. Lilly's health care is provided by Courtenay Animal Hospital. Another faithful contributor and friend is Animal Safehouse of Brevard.
We take this opportunity to recognize those who who have contributed so faithfully to the mission and vision of Serene Harbor!

The Pajama Program focuses on creating safe and healthy bedtime routines for children around the globe. They provide the necessary education to caregivers as well as pajamas and nighttime books to kids. They work with child welfare and foster care agencies, domestic violence and family shelters, transitional housing and services for the homeless, community-based social service organizations, and many other community partners who work with children and families. We are grateful for their continued partnership and support.
